Rita Weiss, MD, Ph. D is a board certified hematologist-oncologist who earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Brooklyn College and her Medical Degree from University of Monterrey-receiving first place academic honors. In addition, she earned her Doctorate of Philosophy from New York University. After receiving her medical degree, Dr. Weiss completed both her Internship and Residency at Nassau Hospital in Mineola, NY. Upon completion of her Residency, Dr. Weiss completed her Fellowship in Neoplastic Diseases at Mount Sinai Medical Center, with the last year engaged in clinical research for the American Cancer Society. Prior to her employment with New York Cancer & Blood Specialists, Dr. Weiss served on the IPA Board at North Shore University Hospital. Dr. Weiss has had numerous academic appointments, being a clinical instructor at Cornell University Medical College, an assistant professor at New York University, and a clinical assistant professor at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Weiss was previously Chairman and Director in the Department of Hematology/Oncology at St. Francis Hospital, an investigator for Cancer and Leukemia Group B, and a participant for Community Clinical Oncology Program at North Shore University. Dr. Weiss is currently a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
