Self-care is the best care!
Valentine’s Day is synonymous with love but it shouldn’t be defined by romance. Self-love is the key to loving others and the most important aspect of self-care. When you’re going through a difficult time like a cancer diagnosis, treating yourself with compassion and gentleness is a necessary and practical measure that will better help you through treatment, recovery, and survivorship.
Valentine’s Day doesn’t always have to mean fancy date nights, chocolate, and love’s perfect kiss. Showing yourself affection can be so much sweeter. Oftentimes, we’re programmed to put our loved one’s needs first and neglect our own. But this year, celebrate you and fall in love with yourself!
Self-love isn’t selfish. It actually multiplies the love in your life and strengthens the bonds in your relationships. It also doesn’t have to take up too much of your time. Although, you should schedule self-care and dedicate a whole day to yourself because you deserve it.
So drop the self-judgment and self-sacrifice and try something new this Valentine’s Day. We’ve put together a few ideas to help you create little moments throughout your day to enjoy your own company.
Stay hydrated!
Drinking an adequate amount of water daily is the best habit to form. Treat yourself to an at-home spa day and infuse your water with lemon, oranges, cucumber, or mint. There are so many great-tasting combinations to choose from.
Eat the rainbow
Eating a variety of brightly colored fruits and vegetables is a great way to get your daily nutritional needs.
Try a new look
Dress to impress … yourself! Whether you feel your best all dolled up, or comfy cute, throw on your favorite pieces of clothing and admire your own beauty!

Practice yoga
Yoga creates mental clarity and calmness. It also helps improve your strength, balance, and flexibility. So, center yourself, set an intention, and get to stretching!
Buy yourself flowers
Guarantee you get your favorite flowers (and as many of them as you’d like) and buy them yourself. Your coffee table will thank you.
Take a bubble bath
When’s the last time you took a bath? A warm bath makes the blood flow. It also kills bacteria and improves your immunity. Not to mention its relaxing benefits especially when accompanied by a good book.
Write yourself a love note
Write down all of the things you love and appreciate about yourself. Then look yourself in the mirror and read them aloud.
Rest
There’s nothing that says TLC more than some R & R. Invest in rest and replenish your spirit.
