New York Cancer & Blood Specialists Supports Blackburn Amendment Rescinding CMS Policy to Restrict Oncologists’ Ability to Mail Life-Saving Medicines to Their Patients

“At New York Cancer & Blood Specialists (NYCBS), we strongly support the Blackburn amendment, which seeks to repeal the restrictive policy imposed by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) that is currently restricting oncologists’ ability to provide life-saving medications to their patients.

Patients should have access to the treatments they need when they need them. They should not be forced to get their cancer-fighting medications through PBMs and face horrific bureaucracy filled with unacceptable and inexplicable delays, denials, and suffering. Our nation has made health care equity a priority. But, if we are truly going to do that, we need to ensure that every one of our neighbors has access to the highest level of health regardless of their race, ethnicity, and income. “

Statement from Dr. Jeff Vacirca, CEO, NYCBS
