Tips to Keep Your Liver Healthy

The liver is one of your body’s detoxifiers. It aids in removing toxins and produces bile that helps to break down fat for digestion. Here are some ways to keep your liver healthy and help prevent non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. 

 

  • Keep a healthy BMI  <25
  • Eat whole unprocessed foods 
  • Choose whole grains
  • Eat many plant-based proteins such as legumes, beans, soy, and nuts.
  • Eat fish two times per week
  • Consume at least 2 fruits and 3 vegetable servings per day.
  • Exercise 150 min per week ( 30 min 5 x/wk)
  • Practice stress management techniques such as yoga, meditation, or journaling.
  • Limit simple sugars
